Unpacking Elixir - Realtime & Latency

I wrote a blog post on Elixir latency and soft real time. I hope you enjoy it.

I've got a fever

I was travelling the last few days. I went to a gala dinner for developers, which was weird, kinda fun, kind of what you'd expect. During the trip I had planned to document the journey and make a vlog of it and I just didn't have the oumph to record consistently.

After the gala, coming home, I quickly confirm I have a fever. Probably started creeping in earlier. Probably got it from my pre-school age kids that had it in the week before.

Yesterday I was a wreck. Today I will try to be a couch slug, moving very little, staying warm to avoid shivering. Fun stuff. The only work I'll do is send this out because at this point it amounts to a superstition that I must. And it doesn't take much effort, consider it my note from the doctor.

A rough thing about being ill like this is that everything can start feeling difficult. I spent hours in a feverish half-slumber with an aggressive bout of imposter syndrome on repeat. Kinda sucked.

There is not a grand lesson here. Know you limits. Don't go to work when you feel like crap. If you feel pressured to there is a problem.

Take care of yourself y'all. I will.

Do you have a favorite fever? No maybe not. If you feel the need you can reply to this email or poke me on the fedi @lawik@fosstodon.org.

Thanks for reading. I appreciate your attention.
