Set pieces

When organizing a conference it feels like the execution of the event should be this massive set piece that goes off. And it will be. And then I imagine it to be quiet and if I want to do another one I have that whole quiet period to prepare for the next one.

This is not my life. At NervesConf EU we'll be announcing things that carry the community forward into October, November, December. At Goatmire I'll push information about the Global Elixir Meetup event we are doing in Gothenburg.

Goatmire helps seed other things. And the year keeps rolling. You might go to Code BEAM Berlin, in November. You should! Love Berlin, I will miss it this year though. My end of year has Cursed Code and Oredev so a bit outside of Elixir. Doing the outreach

I haven't checked what the first Elixir event of next year will be. Maybe ElixirConf EU? It hasn't been announced yet. But then it would typically be a Code BEAM Stockholm in June. Then there is always some stuff in the US that I will skip for now. Vacation period. And we've done a lap.

Mixed in with all this is the drumbeat of podcast episodes and newsletter issues. The open source experiments and efforts. Publishing about those.

The event doesn't end and then the quiet sets in. Not for me. The event ends and the wheel keeps turning. Whatever it is called that I do with this community, ecosystem, open source .. stuff. It is continuous. The intensity varies and I could dip out if I wanted to. But it really is continuous.

And in the quieter parts is usually where a lot of the technical work happens. Along with client work to pay the bills and all that.

My hope is that the next season of work after Goatmire will actually end up involving a fair bit of video work again. I miss it.

The conference is the now. It is part of a larger continuous movement. We are very excited to do it.

If you are attending Goatmire. See you soon. Don't hesitate to roll up, say hi, introduce yourself. I like meeting people. I might run off quickly but that's not about you, that's logistics.

Regardless if you attend or not. Have a great weekend.

Thank you for reading.
