I've been skiing, it has made my stomach issues better, effectively kept my mind off of work and reminded my body that it likes being tired. Important thingsI didn't care about COVID-19 until it became an undeniable concern in my day to day. It turned out to be a thing that sucked for the last two years. I doubt I could have prepared better for it and seen a mich better impact. We had it comparatively easy. But I underestimated what it was. I don't want to so that with a war that is very close to here. My feeling that nothing changes in big ways anymore, that our lives are stable has been shaken loose a fair bit. I don't feel comfortable assuming that this just goes away. It is not my thing to solve but it seems prudent to at least revisit crisis preparation information and ensure some base resiliency at home. I still don't believe war will come to me, not in my bones, but that's based on a lifetime of it not. It isn't based on some law of nature saying it can't. I didn't believe a pandemic was a concern outside of fiction either. I'd love to write a metaphor om software development through the lens of alpine skiing. But that's not where my thoughts are. I'm not prone to worrying however I'll definitely keep it on my radar. Look after yourself, your mindspace, your sense of readiness according to your level of concern. Focus on your loved ones, family and friends. And sure, if you have the chance to do some skiing. That's probably a good move regardless of international threats. Do something you like.
